Scott Adsit, a former 30 Rock actor who provides the voice of the sweet-tempered behemoth bot Baymax in Big Hero 6, describes starring in the animated movie, then introducing it at New York Comic Con, as nothing short of "mind-blowing."
Adsit spoke about the experience during a panel discussion in a Javits Center room packed with thousands of fans at last month's New York Comic Con where several preview clips of the film were shown. The eagerly awaited movie opened this past weekend and soared to the top of the North American box office.
"Your mind is still kind of melted that you are this character in what will be an iconic Disney film," Comic Con panel moderator Chris Hardwick teased Adsit.
"It's very strange to be up here right now because I try to get into this room every year. ... I didn't have the stamina that you people have to wait in line," Adsit told the audience, referring to the convention's first come, first serve seating policy, which can mean several hours of waiting in line for hot-ticket, star-studded panels. "Chris would not get me in."
"The only way that I get in here is moderating panels. I can't get in here otherwise," Hardwick insisted.
"So, it's a thrill to be up here right now because I have always been in the crowd, and to be up here and being something so kind of central to this movie is mind-blowing. I can't believe I'm here," Adsit said. "I've been a fan of things like this for so long and now I'm up here with these brilliant actors and these amazing filmmakers and I am thrilled. I can't believe my life right now. I'm really, I'm very happy right now."
Directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams, the family flick also features the voice talents of Ryan Potter, Jamie Chung and Genesis Rodriguez.
