Zachary Quinto, Uzo Aduba and John Benjamin Hickey have joined the cast of writer-director Sian Heder's film Tallulah, producers announced.
The star-studded ensemble will also include Tammy Blanchard, Evan Jonigkeit, Ellen Page, Allison Janney and David Zayas. Principal photography on the comedy recently started in New York City.
Route One Entertainment is financing the independent movie, and Heather Rae is producing along with Route One's chief executive officer Russell Levine, Maiden Voyage's Chris Columbus and Eleanor Columbus and Todd Traina.
Ocean Blue Entertainment is also financing. The production is partnering with music innovator Cutting Edge Group and music producer Michael Lloyd to create songs inspired by the screenplay.
ICM Partners is handling domestic rights, while Good Universe is handling foreign rights.
"We believe Sian Heder is an emerging talent and we wanted to surround her with the best possible cast and crew for her debut effort -- one we think will make headlines for both its emotional power and comedic touch. Tallulah is a great addition to Route One's lineup of new films, and we are proud to be producing alongside Chris and Eleanor Columbus' Maiden Voyage," Levine said in a statement.
The film stars Page as the title character, a "free-spirited, urban adventurer who rescues a baby girl from her self-absorbed and reckless mom Carolyn [played by Blanchard,]" a synopsis said.
"Tallulah quickly learns that the rest of the world thinks she kidnapped the child. With nowhere to turn, Tallulah passes the baby off as her own with her ex-boyfriend's mother, Margo [played by Janney.] By the time the baby is returned, all three women will surprisingly forge an unbreakable bond of motherhood."
