The latest issue of The Writer magazine, on newsstands March 4, features popular writers with advice for aspiring novelists, poets and screenwriters. International bestselling novelist Anita Shreve discusses her recent publication, Stella Bain. Shreve is best known for her novel The Pilot’s Wife, which was selected for Oprah’s Book Club in 1999. Ron Charles, fiction editor for The Washington Post, calls her “one of the most literary authors who can reach out to a popular audience”. In the feature article she explains her writing process and the inspiration that drives her creativity. The issue also features playwright, screenwriter and producer Sarah Treem, celebrated for her work on the award-winning Netflix series House of Cards, for which she received a Primetime Emmy nomination. In the issue, Treem discusses her role as executive producer of the new Showtime series, The Affair, as well as her growing playwright career. She also reflects on women’s issues that play an important role in her writing. In celebration of National Poetry Month, The Writer interviews spoken word poet Sarah Kay about her first published collection, No Matter the Wreckage. The young poet became an internet sensation with her YouTube and TED Talk performances. In the article she discusses her nonprofit organization, Project V.O.I.C.E., and offers advice for aspiring poets. As always, the new issue of The Writer is filled with valuable writing tips for readers. This issue also marks the 127th anniversary of the magazine. “April is special to us here at the offices of The Writer,” Editor-in-Chief Alicia Anstead says. “It was in April 1887 that two Boston Globe reporters founded our magazine to support the work of writers everywhere. It remains one of the longest continuously published craft magazines in the U.S.” Source: PRWEB
