As the sector of handicrafts constitutes a main basis for employing large numbers of professional workers and technicians, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Humam al-Jazaeri called for reviving this sector in a way that achieves considerable revenues and incomes.
Meeting with artisans at the headquarters of the General Union of Syrian Craftsmen on Saturday, al-Jazaeri said that supporting craftsmen is one of the Syrian Government’s top priorities.
He added that the government works on enabling craftsmen and small producers who were affected by the crisis through developing new policies and measures which take into consideration the specialties of the city and the countryside and of each handicraft to upgrade the production capacity of craftsmen and to open the door wide before them to enter the foreign market.
The Minister focused on setting the required mechanisms and enabling all handicrafts to pave the way for reviving the production movement of the artisans who have been mostly affected by the crisis.
He indicated that this step will improve the living standard and income of craftsmen.
Al-Jazaeri underlined the necessity of enhancing the internal exhibitions , and supporting handicrafts and the public institutions to promote the public products.
The Minister also called for facilitating the procedures of granting the administrative licenses required for practicing handicrafts.
