Culture Minister Shaikha Mai bint Mohammed Al Khalifa met here today the Chairman of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Khalid Abdulrahman Al-Moayyad, in the presence of the Assistant Undersecretary for Tourism Khalid bin Hmood Al Khalifa and representatives of three-star hotels.
The meeting focused on the strategy to upgrade hotel services following the Culture Ministry’s Edict 5 for this year on three-star hotels.
The Culture Minister asserted that the edict will not reflect negatively on the work of hotels, stressing that its ultimate goal is to improve the quality of services so as to preserve the kingdom’s reputation.
She pointed out that the move was part of the ministry’s vision to activate the positive results of the choice of Manama as "Capital of Arab Tourism" for the year 2013 and "Capital of Asian Tourism" in 2014, noting that the decision aimed to adjust the status of those hotels, while maintaining the hotel-related activities, which should be their first resource , not their facilities.
She highlighted the importance of promoting the concept of high-end cultural and entertainment tourism through holding continuous functions and activities for the aim of attracting tourists towards the kingdom’s bright and honourable features.
BCCI Chairman expressed sincere thanks to the Culture Minister for their incessant efforts to improve tourism services in the kingdom, and lauded the ministry’s plans to upgrade the hotels and hospitality sector.
He called for the need to find common grounds between all parties in order to make the kingdom’s image brighter in light of its deep-rooted culture and civilisation.
