Human Rihts Affairs Minister Dr. Salah bin Ali Abdulrahman has affirmed the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination with civil society organsiations for the sake of consolidating human rights principles and promoting their culture among the members of the Bahraini society.
He was speaking as he signed here today a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR).
He pointed out that the MoU would contribute to enhancing joint action to promote the culture of human rights and lay the foundation for a new phase of collective work aiming to boost human rights work at the national level.
He welcomed the setting up of a joint committee, as required by the memorandum, noting that the panel will convene periodically and whenever need arises to develop a joint executive work plan of cooperation, and follow up on its implementation.
The NIHR’s Council of Commissioners Dr. Abdulaziz Abul, who signed the MoU on behalf of NIHR, said the move would consolidate institutional work in the field of human rights, and boost complementarity among all sides concerned with human rights.
Under the MoU, the two sides will promote human rights, exchange expertise, visits, consultations, publications and studies and hold joint functions and conferences.
