Industry and Commerce Minister Dr. Hassan Fakhro chaired the first meeting to follow up the results of the visit made by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to Kazakhstan, which resulted in signing many memos in various areas of cooperation and joint action between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) Mr. Khalid Al Moayyed, representatives from a number of government agencies, a number of BCCI board members, members of Bahrain Businessmen Society, senior businessmen and Board Chairmen and CEOs of some major industrial companies.
The Minister commended the great efforts and cooperation shown in following up on the visit's outcomes aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation. He hailed ideas and proposals to further enhance relations between the two countries and launch new projects.
Then, discussions focused on agreements and memos that were concluded during Bahrain-Kazakhstan Business Forum which was organized on the sidelines of the king's visit in Astana and attended by more than 350 participants from both countries. A total of 7 agreements were signed. They are as follows:
A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Kingdom of Bahrain on developing aluminum downstream industries.
A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company and National Holding "Baiterek" of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Mumtalakat Development Manager Ms. Suad Al Shakrani confirmed that the company is currently studying a lot of investment opportunities available in Kazakhstan in order to activate the MoU.
A memo between Bahrain News Agency (BNA) and Kazakhstan News Agency.
An Agreement on establishing a joint business council (JBC) between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan and BCCI.
A Memorandum of Understanding between BCCI and the National Committee of Kazakh Businessmen.
A Memorandum of cooperation on the implementation of investment projects in food industry field between JSC "NEIA "Kaznex Invest" and the Bahrain Flour Mill company. Chairman of Bahrain Flour Mill Mr. Abdullatif Alojan confirmed that the company is following up the study on the possibilities of importing high quality wheat from Kazakhstan.
A Memorandum of cooperation on the implementation of investment projects in the field of livestock between JSC "NEIA "Kaznex Invest" and "Bahrain Livestock Company". Chairman of Bahrain Livestock Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed Zainal confirmed the existence of correspondence between Bahrain Livestock Company and the Kazakh side to study the possibilities of importing frozen meat from Kazakhstan.
In this context, the Minister underscored the importance of the historic royal visits to some friendly countries in cementing ties and promoting cooperation with them.
