The Budget and Accounts Committee at the People’s Assembly discussed on Sunday the investment budget of Tourism Ministry for 2019, which was set at about SYP 5.385 billion.
The Committee members focused on the necessity of activating the tourism sector especially after stability was restored to most of the provinces and in keeping up with the development process that is to be launched in the upcoming stage.
The members called for finding solutions to the damaged projects due to terrorism in order to resume production and rehabilitation of those projects.
They also called for reviving the handicrafts via holding exhibitions and festivals in the countryside, in addition to encouraging popular, medical , internal and religious tourism.
For his part, Tourism Minister Bishr Yazigi affirmed that the Ministry is focusing on launching new investment projects and providing the private sector with facilitations.
