The Moroccan General Confederation of Enterprises (CGEM) and the Ministry in Charge of Moroccans Living Abroad and Migration Affairs (MCMRE)  initiated on Thursday in Casablanca a joint agreement enabling the establishment of a virtual region, baptized the 13th CGEM region, aimed at facilitating the integration of Moroccan entrepreneurs of the world (MEM) into the Moroccan economy.

The aim of the agreement, signed by MCMRE Minister Anis Birrou and CEO of CGEM Miriem Bensalah Chaqroun, is to unify the efforts of both parties to develop economic and social co-operation for MEM in areas of common interest, by setting up of a platform dedicated to the exchange of experience, expertise and good practice, and support for Moroccan entrepreneurs wishing to settle down in Morocco.

“Nearly 60% of Moroccan entrepreneurs of the world want to invest in Morocco to accompany the dynamics of the Moroccan economy which offers great opportunities,” affirmed Birrou during the announcement ceremony.

The minister pointed out that the Moroccan community residing abroad is estimated at more than 5 million, including more than 300,000 entrepreneurs.

Adil Zaidi, the president of the CGEM MEM project, noted during the ceremony that “this virtual platform aims to bring together all the Moroccan entrepreneurial forces of world,” explaining that “this platform will make the Moroccan experience available in all domains via online training and programs.”

Miriem Bensalah Chaqroun concluded by stating that: “this public-private partnership is in line with King Mohammed VI’s vision to bring together the Kingdom’s forces in order to encourage the emergence of the country through the creation of employment and wealth and the strengthening of the experiences and expertise exchange between Moroccans residing abroad and Moroccan entrepreneurs operating in the Kingdom.”
