Communications Minister Yasser el Qadi and Khaled Fahmy, the Minister of Environment, gave a Sustainable Recycling Industries (SRI) project the go-ahead on Tuesday.
The project will be implemented in cooperation with Switzerland and the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe (CEDARE) with the aim to recycle electronic wastes in Egypt.
The project is meant to offer legal, administrative and technical support to be able to upgrade skills of the formal and informal sectors in a way that helps achieve sustainable recycling.
It is also part of strategy to better manage electronic wastes in cooperation with the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
