National conference on boosting the non-hydrocarbon exports will take place on 12 - 13 January, announced Tuesday Minister of Commerce, Amara Benyounes.
This meeting will bring together the company managers and the parties concerned so to identify all the problems which hamper the exportation and define, thus, the procedures and the techniques likely to facilitate foreign sales, Benyounes explained in an interview to the national radio.
Recalling that the State has to fulfill its commitments concerning the promotion of the non-hydrocarbon exports, the minister insisted on the need for setting up a system that facilitate the Algerian company’s access to the foreign markets.
"We have Algerian companies that currently export, with their own means while almost all the world exporting companies are backed by their governments. So we need to set up a mechanism to support our exporting companies," he said.
Speaking about Algeria’s membership to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Benyounes said that the talks process is conducted "normally," while affirming that Algeria "will better defend" its economic interests.
Indeed, Algeria must become a member of WTO "but by respecting its pace and by protecting its economic interests," the minister said while stressing that to gain WTO membership, each country has specificities and interests.
"We have an industry that we are reinforcing and there is absolutely no question of selling off $ 10 billion that we invest in this sector as it is out of the question to sell off a certain number of efforts we are doing in agriculture or the services, "he said.
In fact, Algeria WTO accession "is well supervised by the government and we are on the right track," says Benyounes who recalled that the chairman of the WTO working group in charge of the Algerian file Alberto D'Alotto (Argentina), will visit Algeria on October 18.
