The Sudanese Consumer Protection Society called for amendment of the Civil Transaction Act of the year 1984 to include a clear texts regarding post-sale guarantees and services.
The Director of the Legal Administration of the society, Omer Kabbashi ,during the society's meeting on the guarantees and compensation rights, which was held Saturday at the premises of the society, called the Ministry of Industry to issue a list on the post-sale guarantees and to put the repair reformation cost on the producer responsibility, noting that the Legal Department had already addressed the Ministry of Industry six months without any response, pointing out to the weakness of the commitment in guarantee service from some companies clients.
On his side, the former Undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice, Abdul- Dayem Zumrawe, affirmed that there is no legislative problem regarding the guarantees, stressing the importance of educating citizens about their rights, recommending that the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization shall set the specifications of commodities.
The Secretary General of the Consumer Protection Society, Dr. Yasser Mirghani, said that the volunteer Zumrawe gave the consumer a strong boost to gain his right, affirming the society's pledge to pay the law suit fees.
