Egypt has finalized with Russia all talks related to the project of a nuclear power plant in Dabaa city, said Electricity and Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker on Sunday.
The project's four contracts will take effect after a legal revision by the State Council, Shaker told reporters following a meeting with Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr.
He said that Cairo also hired an international consultant to study the technical and legal aspects of the contracts which will last for 60-80 years.
The legal revision of two of the contracts has been finalized, added the minister.
A portion of foreign funds received by the international cooperation ministry has been channeled into a project to examine the land of the planned nuclear plant to make sure it is free from any mines.
"There are no war remnants in the area," he said, adding that the Armed Forces are expected to conduct technical and engineering examination operation over six months.
He hailed the expertise of Rosatom of Russia which will establish the Egyptian plant.
"It has broad experience in building nuclear plants in Russia and abroad," he said.
