Dubai - Arab Today

Dubai Cares will provide Dh3.8 million in funding to two new schools in Kurdistan in Iraq to support education for refugee and displaced children.
The project, run with Unicef, will consist of two 13-classroom schools built in the governorates of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah.
The schools will serve 1,365 displaced, refugee and vulnerable children, Dubai Cares said. It is the humanitarian foundation’s first programme in Kurdistan.
Tariq Al Gurg, chief executive of Dubai Cares, said the project is "in support of the growing number of children who have had their education interrupted by the ongoing conflicts in Syria and Iraq".
He said he hopes it will ensure "access to safe and quality education and provide children with a sense of normalcy, stability and hope for the future".
Refugees and internally displaced people account for 28 per cent of Kurdistan’s population of 5.2 million, according to the Kurdistan Regional Government.
