Head of Agriculture Export Council Ali Eissa said Saturday that Egypt was allowed to resume export of citrus fruits to the US markets from the upcoming season.
Speaking to Misr Alzeraya channel, Eissa noted Egyptian negotiators reached an agreement with the US side after four years of tests in Vienna.
"A delegation of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will arrive in Cairo next month to agree the execution version of the agreement upon an invitation by Egypt's minister of industry Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour," Eissa said.
Egypt was negatively affected by the political turmoil that gripped the country over the past few years, he said, adding, the two sides faced challenges in making appointments for meetings.
A group of Egyptian officials discussed the resumption of exportation with the US side during a delegation visit under Prime Minster Ibrahim Mahlab early August.
