Supply and Internal Trade Minister Khaled Hanfi stressed on Sunday that the new subsidized-bread distribution mechanism, now applicable in Cairo and Canal governorates, will come into force across the nation.
The new mechanism helps provide high-quality bread to citizens in big quantities, the minister said in statements.
Bakeries began offering a maximum of five loaves of bread to each individual holding a smart ration card.
The minister reiterated President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's concern with limited-income people, saying President Sisi wants to see more low-priced commodities being offered to the poor.
Hanafi said Sisi lauded during an earlier phone call the Supply Ministry's efforts to provide all commodities at affordable prices.
