Hamas has stated on Monday that the movement distributed a total of $32 million to owners of houses destroyed during the 50 day Israeli bombardment of Gaza.
In a press statement it was revealed that $2,000 were given to every owner of a entirely destroyed house. A further total of $11.5 million was distributed to owners of partly destroyed homes with an additional $800,000 handed to the families of the victims.
Hamas added that the money was the movement's modest effort to support the stricken people of Gaza, independent of any official or non-official bodies.
An international donor conference for the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip is scheduled for next month in Egypt. Israel's offensive on the Gaza Strip left 2,147 Palestinians dead and more than 11,000 injured.
