Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour opened the Eighth Jordanian International Mechanical Engineering Conference on Monday, organized by Jordan Engineers Association's (JEA) Mechanical Engineering Division.
In his opening speech, Ensour said that these scientific conferences, in which specialists and researchers from Jordan and several other countries take part, contribute in keeping pace with the latest developments in the field of mechanical engineering and its applications.
The Prime Minister pointed out that the conference, entitled "Mechanical Engineering - From research to application," is a real opportunity for exchanging ideas and expertise among researchers from different participating countries.
The conference will include workshops about solar energy, water treatment, energy management and many specialized lectures.
The Arab and Jordanian Engineers' Association President, Abdullah Obeidat, said that the conference is part of a series of engineering conferences, covering many specialties.
Obeidat called on the government for more communication and support for the advancement of the engineering sector, in which Jordan is highly regarded, both regionally and globally.
The head of the Conference's Preparatory Committee, Nasser al Hunaiti, said that the event is based on three main themes: modern applications in mechanical engineering, solving problems in the energy sector and mechanical engineering education.
The head of the Mechanical Engineering Division at the JEA, Badi al Rafayeh, said that the conference accepted 42 papers from 17 countries, focusing on modern applications in mechanical engineering and energy solutions for teaching engineering sciences, as well as holding an applied workshop about energy management.
The premier also opened the 7th Inter-build Jordan Exhibition, also organized by the JEA, in which 120 companies from 18 countries are participating. This features the latest engineering products, such as building, construction, architecture, decoration, stone, marble, aluminium, iron, cement and wood industries.
