Lebanese Industry Minister Hussein Hajj discussed on Thursday with Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Mohammad al Khalil boosting economic relations and trade between Lebanon and Syria.
They also tackled means of eliminating barriers that hinder the flow of commodities between the two countries without adversely affecting their markets.
During the meeting, Hussein Hajj reviewed the complaints of industrialists in Lebanon while Al Khalil pointed out measures taken by the Syrian government to protect the Syrian economy, maintain monetary stability and safeguard domestic production, the Lebanese ministry of industry said in a statement on Thursday.
Both sides agreed that Lebanon present an official memorandum of Lebanese goods that can be exported to Syria without affecting its domestic production.
Al Khalil expressed hope to expand cooperation with Lebanon in other fields including economy, industry and trade in addition to considering possible partnerships.
Lebanese Industry Minister Hussein Hajj Hassan along with Agriculture Minister Ghazi Zoayter are visiting Syria to partake in the ongoing 59th Damascus International Fair.
