Muscat - QNA

Oman's National Center for Statistics and Information (NCSI) reported that the inflation rate of the Sultanate rose by 2.7% in June 2012 compared to the corresponding month in 2011 and 0.6% higher compared to May 2012. The hike is attributed to the increase in the price of foodstuff, beverage and tobacco group by 1.2% as this group constitutes 30% of the relative importance. The statistics by NCSI pointed out that a number of groups contributed to the rise in the general indicator in June 2012 compared to the previous month. On the contrary, the prices of the group of ready to wear, textile and shoes declined by 0.2%. The prices of house rent, electricity, water, fuel group, medical services group, educational services group, culture and entertainment group stabilized.
