His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa today at Qudaibiya Palace received Minister of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, Essam bin Abdulla Khalaf, who presented an overview of a number of the highways and main streets development projects, including Al-Fateh Street.
HRH Prime Minister stressed the significance of developing the streets according to the highest standards to ensure a smooth traffic flow with taking into account the future investment projects.
HRH Prime Minister pointed out the government's endeavour to develop the country's infrastructure, chiefly highways, streets and bridges in the interest of citizens and residents and the comprehensive development process witnessed by various areas. 
HRH Premier commended the Works Ministry's road maintenance effort, urging to step up work to complete existing development projects in the shortest possible time, taking into consideration the citizens and residents' daily movement. 
HRH Premier was briefed on the Ministry's operational procedures for Al-Fateh Street development project, as well as the preliminary procedures, hiring contractors and consulting companies and preparing tender documents for the implementation of the project.
The project is designed to construct an underpass at the Gulf Hotel intersection and an overpass for traffic approaching from the north of Al-Fateh Street in the direction of Prince Saud Al-Faisal Street. The development plan also comprises increasing the number of lanes to four on each sides, as well as constructing a U-shape course at the Al-Fateh Street and Tarafa Al-Abid intersection. 
The project is funded by the Saudi Fund for Development within the third phase of the Gulf support project. The project will be put out to tender in coordination with the Saudi Fund for Development and Bahrain Tender Board.
The Works Minister expressed appreciation of HRH Premier's support for the ministry and facilitating the operational procedures to upgrade the infrastructure projects.
He said the detailed designs and tender documents have been completed in conformity with the directives of HRH Prime Minister on the implementation of the project.
