The Sudanese exports to Egypt, up to June this year, stand at 15 million dollars and are expected to reach 35 million dollars by the end of current fiscal year, when sheep, livestock, meats and cotton exports are added.
Head of the foreign branches at the Egyptian Nasr company for exports and imports, Mohamed Wagdi, told the Sudan News Agency SUNA that the company aims to increase trade exchange between the Sudan and Egypt by exporting meat, sesame and cotton.
He said the Egyptian markets appreciate the Sudanese meats imports for their quality and relative cost effectiveness.
He said for the first time in a long time, Sudan will export mutton to Egypt, starting with 20 thousands heads as well as quantities of livestock and camel meats. He said the joint ministerial committee between the two countries, currently in session, will study the specifics of these issues.
He said some 15 thousands livestock will be exported to Egypt, explaining that up to June this year some 5 thousands heads were exported to Egypt and that by the end of the fiscal year the quantity will increase to 10 thousand heads.
As to cotton export, Wagdi said, long and short staple cotton will be exported to Egyptian market's private and public sectors.
He said Sudan will be importing Sugar from Egypt as well as rice and chemical product, while tire and other commodities are under consideration.
