The Workers' Party (PT) has advocated for consolidating the "trade-union immunity" as part of the consultations on the revision of the Constitution, said Thursday in Algiers, the party’s Secretary General, Louisa Hanoune.
In a statement following her meeting with Minister of State, Principle Private Secretary of the Presidency of the Republic, Ahmed Ouyahia, who leads the consultations, Hanoune indicated that the PT had insisted in its proposals on the promotion of trade union rights and freedoms through the "consolidation of the trade union immunity."
Moreover, the Workers Party put an emphasis on the national sovereignty as "priority", and its consolidation in all areas, and the need to include reconciliation in the preamble of the Constitution, she added.
The PT also called for "strengthening democracy, establishing a real separation between the authorities and ensure genuine independence of the Judiciary through the election of judges in all levels of instances of industry," she added.
The Workers Party (PT)'s proposals have further focused on strengthening the parliamentary oversight by widening the prerogatives of the National People's Assembly (Lower House).
The economic situation was also discussed by PT boss calling for the "entrenchment of domestic production, the national preference, the state’s right to pre-emption and the restoration the state monopoly on trade to end the anarchy which constitutes an obstacle to economic development."
