Kuwaiti-owned telecommunications company, Zain-Jordan, announced on Tuesday that it has dispatched a convoy of humanitarian assistance worth USD 500,000 to people in the Gaza Strip, including medical supplies and food.
This came after both Palestinian factions and Israel earlier in the day reached a one-month ceasefire agreement in a meeting in Cairo. The agreement allows such humanitarian aid to get into the Strip, which had been reeling under Israeli aggression for more than 50 days.
The Jordan-based company has carried out logistic tasks of the convoy in coordination with Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO), said a statement by the company.
Another convoy of humanitarian aid will be dispatched for Palestinians next Tuesday, added the statement.
The convoy, which is on its way to the Strip with eight trucks of humanitarian assistance, comes in the framework of efforts of Zain in providing required support and basic needs for Palestinian people, Executive Manager of Zain-Jordan Ahmad Al-Hananda said.
Zain-Jordan last month launched several initiatives for supporting the vulnerable people in the Strip amid the disastrous circumstances by allocating 50 percent of revenues of the company's international calls to be spent on reconstructing the Strip and treating Palestinian children injured by the brutal aggression of Israel.
For her part, Jennifer Soliman, a senior official at Zain-Jordan, said that the company is committed to offering humanitarian aid for people in the Strip to relieve their suffering.
