Dubai Investment Development agency, Dubai FDI, an agency of the Department of Economic Development, DED, along with its business development services partner, Morison Menon Ltd., will embark on a two-day mission to India to update business leaders and professional as well as industry associations on the growth prospects in Dubai.
"India has remained the number one trade partner for Dubai for long and though China overtook them in 2015, new and vast avenues have opened up for Dubai and India to take their engagement to a new level, spanning commodities, services and state-of-the-art technologies," said Ibrahim Ahli, Director of Investment Promotion Division in Dubai FDI.
Trade between India and Dubai during the first six months of 2016 was worth AED48 billion, accounting for seven percent of Dubai’s total non-oil trade. DP World operates five Indian container terminals, while Emirates flies to nine cities in India, the strongest overseas network for the airline. Dubai is also home to over 1.5 million Indians.
"Together, Dubai and India represent a promising synergy capable of promoting trade and investment, even beyond their respective geographies. We share an array of advantages, strong air and sea connectivity, people-to-people contacts and policy focus on identifying potential overseas markets," added Ahli.
Ahli will address 50 senior-most executives and key decision-makers representing varied industry sectors in India at a forum to be held at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi on the 29th of November. Dr. Ahmed Al Banna, the UAE Ambassador to India, will also speak at the gathering.
"Expo 2020 Dubai and the ongoing policy reforms in the emirate will be of particular interest to Indian industry, as businesses and entrepreneurs from India have had remarkable success in leveraging Dubai as a hub for investment and re-exports," said Ahli.
Ahli will also hold a series of meetings with business owners on the 30th of November, addressing their queries on opportunities across diverse sectors and doing business in Dubai.
