Ghana's Vice-President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has hailed China's leading global Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solution provider, Huawei Technologies, for helping promote ICT development in the country, when officially commissioned the firm's new headquarters building Wednesday.
The six-storey office complex is located in a plush area in the country's capital, Accra, which is providing residential and office spaces to several international firms operating in Ghana.
Amissah-Arthur described Huawei as a good corporate citizen, promoting information and communication technology development in Ghana as well as providing opportunity for many Ghanaians to explore the possibilities in ICT.
He said the headquarters showed the deepening relations between China and Ghana, and thanked China and Huawei for contributing to support ICT projects in deprived communities and donate ICT laboratories to Ghana's public universities.
Sun Baohong, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, said the construction of the new ultra-modern headquarters showed Huawei's determination to make Ghana its business hub on the continent.
As part of the China-Ghana cooperation, China has assisted Ghana to deploy fiber optic broadband infrastructure across the country.
Huawei has also contributed to an interactive e-government system linking the Office of the President to ministries, departments and agencies as well as the regional coordinating councils through the deployment of tele-presence equipment and technology.
