Bahrain could potentially be regional hub for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for the Japanese Intelligent Transport Solutions, the first of its kind technology to provide tailor-made solutions for Bahrain’s transportation sector.
“The Kingdom of Bahrain is first in the GCC where we are introducing Intelligent Transport Solutions and seeking partnership to provide Bahrain a state-of-the-art solution for transportation related issues,” offer Bahrain told the Bahrain News Agency (BNA) on the sidelines on a seminar.
“We have a very positive outcome as result of public-private sector meetings,” he said, adding that the participants during the seminar showed keen interest in the technology.
Organised by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan (MIC) the experts highlighted the salient features of the technology during the seminar in Bahrain. The experts discussed the benefits of integrating Japan's state-of-the-art ITS technology into Bahrain and further developed Bahrain and Japan's longstanding relations.
The Japanese delegation consisted of Takanori MASHIKO, Deputy Director, New-Generation Mobile Communications Office, Radio Dept., Telecommunications Bureau at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Dr. Yoshiharu Doi, Group Leader, Technical Research Division 1, ITS Wireless G, Toyota InfoTechnology Centre Co., Ltd and Takashi Sueki, General Manager, ITS Planning Dept, ITS Planning Division, Connected Company, Toyota Motor Corporation.
“We are proud to host this event in Bahrain and introduce the latest ITS solutions with the aim to localize them to suit the needs of the GCC markets," Takanori MASHIKO, Deputy Director, New-Generation Mobile Communications Office, Radio Dept., Telecommunications Bureau at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), said.
“As a dynamic and evolving player in both the Gulf and international markets, Bahrain is well positioned to be among the first within the region to integrate this technology into its infrastructure which will ease industrial traffic issues and their social impact. Bahrain and Japan have had a long-term positive relationship which we hope will be additionally benefited by the introduction of V2X technologies."
The event discussed the application of V2X technologies to ease the social impact of traffic. Attendees then took part in a Q&A  panel detailing the benefits of V2X integration into Bahrain. 
V2X technology is produced to resolve various social and environmental transport-related issues, specifically related to traffic safety, congestion, accidents and logistics.
