Prime Minister Sherif Ismail on Saturday discussed regulations of importing poultry and assigned a team to come up with a number of recommendations in this regard.
This came during a meeting with the ministers of finance and supply, a representative of the Trade and Industry Ministry and the head of the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
The meeting took up all aspects of the poultry industry in Egypt, including the actual production and its cost and the ability of the local producers to bridge the gap between production and consumption in a way that ensures the availability of the product in the market at affordable prices.
It also tackled all problems hindering the production process, including losses incurred by small producers due to the high death rate that reaches 15 percent compared to the international rates of up to 5 percent.
It also discussed the provision of additional lands to build farms that serve the poultry industry.
The prime minister directed to provide poultry in markets at reasonable prices while taking into consideration the impact of the increasing exchange rate on the prices.
