In a bid to attract more tourists, Romania is working on a "red circuit" tour to include traces of the communist dictatorship in the country, Tourism Minister Elena Udrea said on Thursday, according to Romania Business Insider. The tour will highlight places strongly associated with its communist past. Udrea believes it would be "a great thing to exploit the places related to the former communist dictator, Nicolae Ceausescu," adding that these projects would require private partners. "We also have the place where he was shot... the place where the Ceausescu couple died, also the homes where they stayed," Udrea said, adding: "The central tourist site could be the place where the Ceausescus were executed." Ceausescu, general secretary of the Romanian Communist Party from 1965 to 1989, was the country's second and last Communist leader. His government was overthrown in the December 1989 revolution, and he and his wife were executed following a televised two-hour court session
