Mobile operator Orange Egypt has submitted a letter to Communications Minister Yasser el Qady to hold discussions on completing measures to get the 4G license, the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) said.
The letter was sent ahead of a NTRA board meeting on Wednesday, NTRA said.
According to the framework agreed during the meeting, the mobile company that fully pays the price of the 4G license in US dollars will have preference in getting the additional frequencies that will be provided to Telecom Egypt, it said in a statement.
The NTRA board had agreed that mobile companies pay 50% of the price of the 4G license in US dollars and the remaining 50% in Egyptian pounds under the exchange rate announced by the Central Bank of Egypt during the payment time.
