Samsung SDI Co., a battery maker of Samsung Group, plans to begin a mass production of car batteries innovation in 2021.
Samsung SDI Co., a battery maker of Samsung Group, has unveiled an electric car battery with a range of up to 600 kilometers on a single full charge, company officials said Monday.
The "high-energy battery cell," which can fast charge electric vehicles in 20 minutes, is on display at an annual auto show in Detroit, Samsung SDI said in a statement, cited by South Korea's news agency (Yonhap).
In the statement, Samsung SDI said the plant in Hungary "is to actively respond to the diverse requirements of global automakers by supplying the cutting-edge automotive batteries and LVS (low voltage system) solutions in the proximity".
Jeong Seh-woong, executive vice president of Samsung SDI, said, "By providing the industry-leading technologies and products that meet the demand of our customers and market, we will contribute to a rapid market adoption of EVs in North America and worldwide".
The innovation will provide a green" free of carbon dioxide," sustainable and long-lasting energy which will eliminate global warming contributing factors.
