Doosan Heavy Industries
Seoul - QNA

Doosan Heavy Industries and Construction Co., South Korea's top power equipment maker, said Monday that it has won an order, potentially worth over 2.7 trillion won about (US$2.25 billion), to build two thermal power plants in India.

The company has yet to officially sign the deal but said it has received a written notification naming it the successful bidder. The deal consists of two separate projects to build four coal-fired power plants, according to the company.

Under the deal, the South Korean firm will build two 660-megawatt power plants at India's Obra-C power station by 2020 and an additional two plants in Jawaharpur by 2021.

With the latest deal from India, Doosan Heavy has won nearly 5 trillion won worth of international orders this year. Doosan Heavy shares were trading at 28,350 won on the Seoul bourse, up 1.25% from the previous session's close.
