Chinese shares close higher at midday Friday

China's stocks ended higher at midday Friday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.6 percent, or 14.88 points, to close the morning session at 2,498.07. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 0.21 percent, or 22.17 points, to close at 10,499.72.
