German stocks nosedive by more than 6.0%

German stock prices nosedived by more than 6.0 percent in afternoon trade Tuesday amid turmoil triggered by the shock announcement of a Greek referendum on last week's EU debt rescue package. At just after 1300 GMT, the blue-chip DAX 30 index was showing a loss of 6.09 percent at 5,767.15 points, with financial stocks hardest hit.
