Hong Kong shares close 5.67% higher

Hong Kong shares soared 5.67 percent on Thursday following a strong performance on Wall Street and on hopes European leaders will agree a plan to resolve the eurozone debt crisis. The benchmark Hang Seng Index jumped 922.01 points to end at 17,172.28 on turnover of HK$83.85 billion ($10.80 billion).
