Two giant Liberian ships transited the Suez Canal in the south and north bound convoys Thursday with a total cargo of 397.000 tons.
In statements on Thursday, a shipping source in the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) said that the Liberian giant container vessel Reef crossed the canal in the south-bound convoy coming from Malta en route to Singapore via the Red Sea carrying 198.000 tons of goods.
The other giant container ship transited the water way in the north-bound convoy coming from Sri Lanka en route to Britain via the Mediterranean Sea carrying 199.000 tons of goods.
Two locomotives accompanied the vessels while crossing the canal, the source noted.
