Chilean President Sebastian Pinera said Thursday 10,000 people from middle-class families would receive housing benefits from now until 2015. The housing benefits will be given according to the capacity and need of each family, and categorized into different amounts depending on the credit of each one. The housing benefits for this year will be given out from Oct. 21 to Nov. 18, and the government will make contributions from 4,000 to 20,000 U.S. dollars after the applications have been presented to the Housing Ministry. Pinera said his administration would never turn its back on the middle class, and he called his administration "a friendly government that supports and understands the middle class." This is the second time housing benefits will be handed out. As of now, 20,000 have already received housing benefits.
