The reconstruction of Italy's tallest building Isozaki Tower, located in downtown Milan, is scheduled to be completed in March 2015, joining new buildings and areas there re-developed for the Universal Exposition (Expo), according to industry sources.
Japanese architect Arata Isozaki, designer of 202-meter-high tower, told reporters this week in Milan that his aim was not to transform the architectural language of the city.
"I think Milan will be ready next year (for Expo 2015), and will continue into the future," Isozaki said when he presented the 50-story building.
Isozaki Tower is currently under reconstruction in the former area of the trade fair in Milan, where a larger more modern structure was built in preparation for hosting Expo 2015.
The tower is part of the project called CityLife, a mix of residential areas, offices, parks and commercial facilities which include a number of innovative buildings.
Milan is in a phase of feverish activity due to the approach of Expo 2015, which has brought a major investment to transform the city over the past five years.
