DUBAI - Arabstoday

The Dubai Court of First Instance has jailed six suspects for 10 years each, fined them Dh1.8 billion and ordered them to repay the same amount jointly to the Dubai Islamic Bank (DIB), after they were convicted of fraud and committing financial irregularities against the bank. Presiding Judge Fahmi Mounir Fahmi also fined three of the defendants Dh7.2 million and ordered them to jointly repay the same amount to the bank . The seventh suspect, a British businessman, has been acquitted. All the six [two of them are at large] who were incriminated according to Wednesday's judgment will be deported. The primary sentence remains subject to appeal within 15 days. From :Gulf News agency
