Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been slapped with a case of assault for allegedly punching a man at a Mumbai restaurant on Tuesday night. The brawl reportedly occurred when Khan, his girlfriend Kareena Kapoor and his friends were dining at a posh restaurant and were asked to lower their voice by a businessman seated at a table next to them. According to reports, the Agent Vinod star and his friends have been booked under sections 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and could even be arrested. The complaint was registered by Mumbai-based businessman Iqbal Sharma, who claims to have sustained a fracture on his nose following the fight. According to his version, his request was met with a curt suggestion to head to the library ‘to get peace’. Speaking to the media in Mumbai, the police stated that they have taken statements from diners who witnessed the fight. The police also went to the actor’s house in Bandra, but Khan wasn’t at home. “We have summoned Saif to come and meet us. If he does not cooperate, we may issue an arrest warrant against him later,” said the police to the media. This is not Khan’s first brush with the law. In 2008, a case was filed against the actor for allegedly assaulting a photojournalist in Patiala during a film shoot. At the time of going to print, Khan’s secretary was not reachable for comment. Last weekend, Khan was in Dubai aggressively promoting his forthcoming action adventure Agent Vinod, releasing on March 22. Recently, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was also accused of assault by filmmaker Shirish Kunder at a party.
