David Schwimmer played a real-life hero Monday as he invited cops to his East Village apartment in NYC to show them a video of a stabbing that took place in the early morning. Security cameras in Schwimmer's 160-year-old building captured a fight between three people that took place at 5:40 a.m. in the next-door building, according to the NY Post. The brawl reportedly began in the first floor of the building, but spilled into the lobby as the men smashed through the lobby's glass door. After the altercation, a 26-year-old man was taken to Bellvue Hospital with stab wounds and a cross-dressed sex worker he had hired ran away from the scene. Robert Rainey, 21, was arrested and charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and robbery. Police went to Schwimmer after getting accounts of the incident from the the two men and realizing his building's security camera had recorded part of the brawl. The Friends actor, who was once a nuisance to neighbors after he conducted $4 million worth of renovations in his apartment in 2010, is now seen as a local hero. "Four years ago, I would say David Schwimmer was the least popular guy on the block with the construction and all," said resident Jayson Fillermutter. "But he has turned out to be a decent neighbor, and I am glad to hear he helped the cops with that stabbing." Sources close to the situation say the fight began after Rainey reportedly stole a computer from the older man after he failed to pay him. The older man was allegedly heard screaming: "Come out, we know you're in there! We know you stole the computer!" outside Rainey's apartment.
