U.S. actress Lindsay Lohan says she is trying to stay clean and sober by avoiding parties and nightclubs. Lohan, 26, is a former child star with a string of hits behind her such as "The Parent Trap," "Freaky Friday" and "Mean Girls." But her once-bright career has been eclipsed in recent years by legal problems stemming from her addictions to drugs and alcohol. Asked by "Today" anchor Matt Lauer if she can go to parties and clubs and stay out of trouble these days, Lohan replied, "I could, but I don't." "That's not my thing anymore," she said in an interview to air on the NBC morning program Thursday. "I went out, actually, a few months ago with a friend. And I was so uncomfortable. Not because I felt tempted, just because it was just the same thing that it always was before. And it just wasn't fun for me. I've become more of a homebody. And I like that." Lohan said she understands it will take time and a demonstration of long-term good behavior before she starts getting offers to work regularly again. She also said she hopes a gig as guest host of "Saturday Night Live" in March will show people she is serious about her sobriety and resuming her career. "I think that takes time. And I think that it's actions. Because people can say things all they want, but I think I still need to go through the process of proving myself, you know, with 'SNL,' being on time, being, you know, keeping my -- can't say the word -- but stuff together."
