Simpsons co-creator Sam Simon has given away his fortune of more than $100 million to charity as he enters his final days with terminal colon cancer.
In an interview with NBC, Simon said he's donating his money to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), Save the Children and Feeding Families. His own organization, the Sam Simon foundation, offers free vegan food to those in need in the Los Angeles area and also has a mobile spay/neuter vehicle for pet owners in the city.
Simon amassed his fortune as a co-creator of The Simpsons but left the show in 1993 after having several difficulties in his relationship with the other creator Matthew Groening.
He said cancer was "the most amazing experience" but that he was continuing to struggle with it.
"Somehow I ended up surrounded by people that love me and care for me and will do anything for me. It's a good feeling. That's called happiness," he told NBC.
