A British tabloid has formally apologised to actress Sienna Miller for hacking into her mobile phone messages. Michael Silverleaf, a lawyer for News Group Newspapers, the publisher of The News of The World, offered "sincere apologies" to Miller in London's High Court on Tuesday. The company acknowledged that the information obtained through hacking should never have been published. Miller settled the case for £100,000 (Dh602,308) in damages and costs. A lawyer for Miller said that she was the subject of numerous articles containing "intrusive and private information". A number of celebrities and public figures have said they were victims of phone hacking by the tabloid.
