Jimi Jamison is dead at age 63.
The Survivor frontman died of a heart attack at his home in Memphis, Tenn., on Sunday. His death was acknowledged on his Facebook page on Monday.
"We are saddened and heartbroken to announce the passing of a great musician, loving father and grandfather, and overall extraordinary, giving and kindhearted human being. He's loved by so many, most of all his family, and he will be incredibly missed by all. Please keep his family in your prayers, and please give them the privacy they need during this extremely difficult time. Thank you all for your condolences and kind words."
Jamison joined Survivor in 1984, and collaborated on albums Vital Signs (1984), When Seconds Count (1986) and Too Hot to Sleep (1988). The band disbanded in 1989 and reunited in 1993, and Jamison rejoined in 2000. He recorded Reach (2006) with the group before departing again, and returned once more in 2011. Jamison performed with Survivor in Morgan Hill, Calif., on Saturday, the day before his death.
"The entire Survivor family is very shocked and saddened by the passing of our brother Jimi Jamison," his bandmates posted on the Survivor Facebook. "Our thoughts, love and prayers go out to his family and friends."
