Roberto Martinez has been appointed as the new manager of Everton, the Premier League club announced on Wednesday. The 39-year-old Spaniard has signed a four-year contract and replaces David Moyes, who is due to succeed Alex Ferguson as manager of Manchester United. "Everton Football Club is today delighted to confirm the appointment of Roberto Martinez as its next manager," Everton said in a statement on their website. "The 39-year-old Spaniard joins from Wigan Athletic and has signed a four-year contract at Goodison Park." Martinez was due to be presented to the media in a press conference at 1600 local time (1500GMT) on Wednesday.
