At least 24 suspected militants were killed and 20 others wounded on Thursday when security forces pounded militants hideouts with fighter jets in the northern Pakistani tribal region bordering Afghanistan, said officials. According to a senior security official, the security forces launched a massive assault in parts of Bara and Jamrud tehsils of tribal region. The security forces launched a search operation along with the air strikes targeting militants' hideouts. The attack was carried out on insurgent hideouts in the areas of Tor Dara, Wache Yone Dawa Toi, Spera Dam, Merokhel and the surrounding areas of Akakhel, said reports. The air strikes also destroyed two militants' hideouts in Kokhikhel area of Tirrah valley. The air strikes came days after the Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan (TTP) announced not to extend the ceasefire with government and launched several attacks. The air strikes targeted militants' involved in recent attacks in Badbher, Charsadda, Chaman and at the vegetable market in Islamabad killing large number of civilians and security forces, officials claimed
