A rare bomb attack rocked Pakistan's capital early Saturday, injuring one, according to officials. "One person has been injured in the blast, he has been shifted to hospital," Abdul Majeed, a police official told AFP by telephone, adding the explosion was caused by a bomb. "Police have cordoned off the area and (are) checking the nature of the blast", he added. Another police official confirmed the details of the incident. A third police official said the man who was injured was attempting to plant a bomb. Local TV footage showed broken glass and branches of a tree strewn across the pavement. The blast took place in Super Market, a posh shopping area near the centre of Islamabad. It was the first attack to strike the capital since a bomb tore through a fruit and vegetable market in April, killing at least 22 people. The incident came after three days of air strikes by the Pakistani military against militant hideouts which killed at least 75 people, in apparent retaliation against insurgent strikes and against foreign fighters, according to a security official.
