Unknown gunmen opened fire on a plane arriving from Saudi Arabia capital, Riyadh, at the northern city of Peshawar's airport wounded at least two people, a woman and a flight steward, on Tuesday night, said an official.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) spokesman, Mashood Tajwar confirming the incident said that the it took place as the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Boeing, with around 170 passengers on board, was landing at the airport.
The spokesman said the planed landed safely.
Unconfirmed media reports said the injured woman has succumbed to her bullet wounds.
Both victims of the incident were shifted to the nearby military hospital. Security forces have immediately cordoned off the area and a search operation went underway for the culprits. The suspected attack follows a major militants' assault on Karachi city airport earlier this month that killed at least 32 people including all 10 attackers
