Spokesman for Libya's special forces Colonel Milud al Zwei said Libyan forces have fully controlled an area close to al Baladi Hotel where terrorist remnants were hiding.
In press statements, he said the forces' artillery shelled terrorists' hideouts.
Bomb squads defused mines planted by terrorists in several buildings to hamper the forces' advance.
An operation was launched early Saturday to comb the area in pursuit of terrorists.
